R&B (Rhythm and ‘Beat’)
When people engage in the topic of conversation about power, one aspect which gets overlooked time and time again is the power of music. Music can have you doing outlandish things in a club from popping pills, to doing the dougie (I’ve seen grown ass men in upper case V-necks do this) to getting a woman to strip for you (I’ve also seen this happen). I think we can all agree that music has the ability to change ones mood as well as kill or start a party. Let the church say Amen.
So…the first Saturday of 2011 was a big lesson for me in the art of music, in fact scrap that, last weekend’s event confirmed what I already knew……..let me paint the picture which seemed picture perfect initially; with ‘seemed’ being the important word to note.
A beautiful lady friend of mine had come to see me at my apartment last Saturday; after spending much of the later stages of 2010 investing time on this lady, payday seemed destined to be round the corner……The mood was right, minimal conversation and a lot of play fighting (lovers translation for, ‘I like what I see’), everything was going pretty smoothly; all that was missing was the music to maintain the mood, well at least that’s what I thought…. After deciding to trust a friend of mine to create a new mood setting
compilation for me, all that was left was to press play…. that’s where it all went downhill. Me and the lady went from creating a little fire with Rick James and Teena Marie to randomly rocking on many occasions with K.I.G Family and Donaeo…..the doughnut had pretty much made me a Funky House CD….. When I said mood he clearly thought I meant party mood, although it was a party for two (just not that kinda of party)….anyway all I remember is feeling a slight detachment in the chemistry and sexual tension with the final punch being “Maverick maybe its best I head off home, its getting late” bare in mind it was already 12.15am in the morning, apparently the CD had got her in the mood however it wasn’t the mood I had intended as she told me the next day she ended up going raving…’Oh the power of music’
The events of that night got me thinking…Firstly, never trust a friend who raves 3 times a week to make you a mood setter. Secondly the music of today just doesn’t seem to compare with that of the 90’s; maybe I’m right to think slow jams from the late 90’s / early 21st century reign supreme as I owed much of my supremacy within the bedroom to the jams of the past…
Thanks to Limewire Downloads I’m able to recreate a winning compilation, however for the sake of guys who lack that killer instinct within the bedroom, pay attention as I attempt to up your language of the body through music, disclosing my top six love making classics which are sure to get the lady feenin’ for you. Although I know most of the men reading this will probably bow out midway through track 2 in the bedroom for the wrong and right reasons.
6. Jodeci – Freakin you
This requires no intro, the name speaks for itself with the first few words of the song being “I wanna Freak you” fully stating your intention if she doesn’t already know. The legendary band Jodeci is always a fan favourite among the ladies with other classics under their musical belt. This song is a guaranteed ice breaker with a sweet melody and straight to the point lyrics.
5. Donell Jones – Do You Wanna
First thing’s first, ‘GET HER CONSENT’, ok ok you may have been lip locking for the last 20 minutes or so however if it isn’t consented, its forceful entry (no two ways about it brothers) as The Yak so frankly put it “a scrappy beat”. So what better song to ask without asking and letting her know your interest in what she wants before escalating to the next level, As my boy Donell so perfectly put it “Do you wanna feel me? Touching and loving, all over your body” (my voice is amazing by the way).
4. LSG – My Body
Levert, Sweat and Gill, need I say more. The three as individual artists conjured up some of the best ballads in R&B to date, so it’s no coincidence that the end result of such collaboration made the list. Hopefully for you at this point your body should be doing all the talking with her being very receptive whilst enjoying Keith sweat & co continuously beg another woman to jump into bed
3. Usher – Nice & Slow
With the foreplay well and truly behind you, this is the perfect song to exercise your entry. Taking things nice and slow, as no woman likes a man that pump pump squirts…..So give yourself time to get into the swing of things and what better way to communicate that yet again without the use of your words…..as my brother Usher so perfectly put it…”see I’ve been waiting for this for so long”, however feel free to interrupt usher when he begins to spell his own name out for whatever reason we’ll never know.
2.Aayliah – Rock the Boat
After 5 minutes of a song telling you to go ‘nice and slow’, what better track to follow than this, not only because her lyrics requesting you to “change position”, however the image of the artist behind this genius track does wonders for hormones (R.I.P.) especially if the girl your on top of isn’t quite doing it for you……
1. 112 – Anywhere
The infamous bad boys of R&B in the 90’s, 112 brought about songs which, had even the hardest man on the road dancing (‘only you’ ft BIG.) After over exercising the extreme slow tempo songs, there isn’t a better way of upping that tempo, in more ways than one with this track, whilst looking into her eyes letting112 inform her “we can do it anywhere”
(Bonus track) R Kelly – One me
Strictly for the Guys- The year 2000 in my opinion created one of the best albums in my opinion (R Kelly TP2.COM) the album told a tale with each song holding significant weight in the aid towards a masterpiece, however of all the songs on the album I selected this one to make the compilation…..As men we pride ourselves on our ego’s, constantly ranting and raving especially within the bedroom, this song epitomises that exactly manly exertion and boastfulness. Remembering at all times execution is key especially within something as trivial as a play list letting her know there is only one you is that icing on the cake….as my boy R kelly says and the compilation CD ends with “their can only be one me, cant nobody do your body, do your body like me”…Jheeeze….. get to downloading!!!!
Maverick
I’ve submitted my compilation, what tracks set the mood for all you? Let me know your compilations!

lol….real funny JC…
neo soul is more directed for couples however with the high numbers in singltons the list was more directed to those still playing the field….
10 top Love songs of the past soon to come, neo soul will make a feature

From a guy that lost his virginity to the DMX’s platinum album “And then there was X”, I will take onboard the above!
*updates Ipod*
-
@Jaffy Jo, LOL Man lost his virginity to DMX *The Yak laughs and dies*
-
@Jaffy Jo, Mehn im not gonna lie you are GANGSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think i tried to playing that album once in that kinda situation, but i couldn’t hack it…….I mean you can only hear the words “Suck my dick” so many times from a muscian before it becomes a Hugeeeeeeeeeeeeee turn off lol..
In my opinion R.Kelly’s TP-2 album still stands as the best album in the last 20 odd years or so for any such situation….Each track is precisely worded and to the point, cos lets be honest as good as Boys II Men etc are, no dude wants to be primed and ready for action only for the next track to remind the female of her ex……….You might as well start shedding tears there and then lol
-
*correction*> I tried playing that album

@Abena, To be honest I think you have blurred the lines between Making love and having sex. Perhaps from your experience the other ‘Modern Day Males’ have deceived you….lol

lol @JJ and JC
I lost my v to a Eskimo dance CD, ironically where I met her but SWV, Teedra, E Badu and Positive K
-
Lol Jaffy jo said he lost his V to DMX but yesterday he was saying bussin a nut to Chris Brown ‘Excuse Me Miss’ is “the greatest feeling in the world”.
Real talk doe depending on how you rate the girl, you select the music accordingly. If we listening to Mobb Deep you can assume I ain’t gonna be walking road holding your hand but if you got Pretty Willie (Pause) 4 Walls know this ain’t a laugh and a joke!
-
@Scrumptious, hahaha @ greatest feeling…..
but yeah I agree you have to be careful with regards to songs and the way you rate the girl as music is an expression, however remember I don’t think Mobb deep would go down well with the ladies…so just play tracks which are tailored for heated moments which also avoids emphasis on Love …..

LOOOOL @ The Yaks spoken word lyrics he formed there!!! Niiicee!!!! Is that you now then yeah?
Another LOOOL @pressing play and then funky came on! “You are the music while the music
lasts”.lol.You know soulful house could have saved you there! Next time!Maverick i want to see this top 10 love songs list with the Neo-Soul feature !
Nice reading an article in the love of music either way!!!!!! More , More !!!! Once again, good to have BWNG posts!!! Keep it keepin on!!!!!! However i did have a funny thought though , all but one were men…
i mean think about it….really think about it….. LOL. Im playing! hehe! (Raised eyebrow) lol.“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent”.
“Music is what feelings sound like”-
@B.Jones, Thanks B Jones ….Music as an expression, you couldn’t put it any better.
Good observation about only one female artist however during that period of time, all women were constantly singing about was Love or Heartbreak (more of a mood killer than funky) both of which do not need to be anywhere near a seductive situation….
But yeah stayed tuned, 10 Love songs list on the way
-
-
lol love the list however its more geared towards 'fore play' music…Now if were talking about the next level then you need to incorporate the likes of
1. Sammie – Slow
2. J Holiday – bed
3. Tyrese – Signs of love making
4. Sammie – wetter (ohhh lawd…sorry got carried away there!)
5. Tweet – Taxi
Try some of these and trust when I say your lady friend would possibly spend the night (",).

Pingback: Songs That Do The Job, So You Don’t Have To - Brothers With No Game

Damn Mav! You were sounding like a porno version of those Timelife adverts after Trouble TV finished.
I would’ve started off with some Neo-soul to set the mood, some old school RnB during the foreplay and strictly R.Kelly during the love-making, all them tracks that use water drops as a backing beat.
