Songs That Do The Job, So You Don’t Have To

This has nothing to do with the post, I just thought it was cool for about 30 seconds. Click on the tattoos!

Anyway back to limited maturity…

Every guy has, had or will have a comprehensive list of tracks they use exclusively for women. Whether it is, was or will be to impress her, entice her or give her a certain feeling it stands as one of the oldest entries in the ‘Stereotypical things Men do for Women‘ manual (article coming soon). Though times have evolved and the music on these playlists vary as well as the need to make them less vital, there is still ONE playlist that we will stand by or make if the time calls and it is guaranteed to consist of slow jams.

This playlist was/is strictly for getting our female counterparts in the mood or heightening the mood she was/is already in; the right playlist will have a woman wanting to spend the night, the wrong playlist will have her dropping you to a next brother’s house because those love songs you picked made her think of him. Signs of the right playlist include random outbursts of onomatopoeia “ooooo thats my song” “mmmm tune”, replays of songs, her wanting to get closer, lovemaking. The power of music should never be underestimated, ask Maverick.

Some call this playlist the mood setter, others the panty dropper, we simply call it ‘Songs That Do The Job, So You Don’t Have To’. Here’s just a snippet of the list.

Ginuwine – So Anxious

As soon as the beat drops any woman between the ages of 20 and 40 begin partaking in gyration rituals…standard procedure.  It’s not just the song, it’s the singer and the genre. When women think of this song they think of brothers with greasy s curls, permed sideburns (the audacity!) wearing open-buttoned shirts…the IN thing. When women think of this song they think of a simpler and sexier time when R&B envoked a feeling and provided an aphrodisiac and we took FULL advantage. When women think of this song they think of a young Ginuwine who was there way before “which one of y’aaaaalll” …you can’t beat that era of music that made you first think about sex..impossible. “Meet me at 11:30, I love it when you’re talking dirty” basic lyrics run the world…not Beyonce.

Silk – Meeting in my bedroom

“Looking at my roley girl I see it’s almost time…ah yeah” What is it with RnB brothers and the time? For a long time dancing with a girl to slow jams had become extinct and whenever the DJ dropped one in a rave it was like a bat signal to go get your coat or stare into open space whilst the girls sang in the middle of the dance floor. However when this song was released it resurrected slow dancing…for about six months.  It didn’t matter that Silk had aged and didn’t get the memo that trenchcoats over polo necks was not what was hot anymore,  it was their voices and the production that  girls excited about. A mandatory track for the playlist

R.Kelly – Seems Like Your Ready

When bald men sang in the nineties/early 00′s women went wild….(Tyrese/Aaron Hall/Chico Debarge/Lynden David Hall) when bald men sing now they’re crying and Winan. The undoubted king of R&B and better than all that have come after him, R.Kelly brought out that true baby-making music. I’m pretty sure if I hadn’t been alive already I would have been conceived to his, pre Pied Piper music. This track has so much innuendo that listening to it outside the bedroom becomes a pre-requisite for gyrating in public. Which makes it top priority on this list of songs that make a woman’s body tell her yes.

Maxwell – This Woman’s Work

I can honestly say that I know approximately 5 words in the song; for years I thought he was crying (I still do) but this song has an affect on every woman it crosses the path of. The track is smooth and sensual almost providing guidance of the way you need to interact in the bedroom (I’m sounding like a timelife advert right now). When woman hear this song, they think Love and Basketball, when they think Love and BasketBall they think of Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan in that scene, when they think of that scene, they think love-making…..yup songs that do the job, so you dont have to.

Jon B – Inside

Admittedly I broke the Man Code when the ‘Pleasures U Like” album came out, I serenaded a lady friend with this exact track by singing it down the phone with my friends in close vicinity…what? I was young, I could hold a note….never again. Anywho this track is a firm favourite of women who own a creditable 90′s collection of R&B and it stacks enough innuendo to make her wanna bite her lip in anticipation of you going “all the way inside”.

Marc Nelson – 15 Minutes

Remember this? Sung by the lead singer of the most awkward looking RnB group of all time, Az Yet.

Floetry – Say Yes

Pop in a little Floetry for the Neo-Soulers *clicks fingers* and it’s on. Despite it being quite tranquil in sound, I will always associate it with horniness. Why? well I can look past the instrumental, I can even look past some of the sexually potent lyrics but what I can’t look past is Marsha Ambrosius’ rhythmic moans from 3:30 onwards. This woman is having an orgasm in the middle of the damn song, thumbs up!

H-Town – Knocking the Boots

Some things don’t need to be written….just played.

Ne-Yo – Say It

Potent lyrics over a simple beat, Ne-Yo has scripted a scene where there’s no beating around the bush, just straight bedroom antics. He sounds perverted when talking on this track but women get goosebumps hearing it. It’s a killer…to the point where they’re still playing the track as they read this.

112 – All My Love

The 112 catalogue is pretty comprehensive, Anywhere or Sweet Love could have made this list but evidently the kinky element added with the lovemaking does the job just a bit faster. Sidenote: I was always found it freakin’ hilarious that Slim managed to fit in ‘Ohhh Hoooo’ in every single song 112 ever made (2:15).

There’s a few that come to mind, what other songs do the job? What are your favourite slow jams? Feed me your comments!

  10. Whoo another excellent post – I salute you JC!

That is my song! (Seems like your ready)

I agree Sel R Kelly had the slow jam market on lock – (basically the whole 12 play album will do it for me…even TP2000!)

Also you can’t go wrong with some Jodeci either …”Everytime I close my eyes I wake up feeling so horny!”

Great post with some real music. I feel sorry for the young-uns because they don’t know about such copulating tunes.

I’m loving this article, very true about R Kelly but how can u 4get about Joe? That nigga had 90s slowjamz locked. Look at ‘All the things your man won’t do’ that tune killed it completely and 4 any1 that don’t kno it should be ashamed of themselve and check that out immediately on youtbe. Good work guys!

  12. Isley Brothers – Between the Sheets
    R. Kelly – Honey Love
Damage – Forever (1st dance at a wedding music possibly, but one for the first night together……)
Joe – The Things Your Man Won’t Do
    Keith Sweat – Twisted
Keith Sweat – Come Get With Me (w/o rap by Snoop)
Aaliyah – At Your Best (remix)

Better still, cherry pick the majority of the tracks from Pure Swings I – VI and some tight game.

Wow Justin, clearly you are clearly a seasoned pro when it comes to throwing down with the ladies. To be honest though if I get into it with a guy and he has that kind of playlist its a turn off. He’s clearly a practised sleazeball. I prefer a rugged man who slams you so good that the ragged sound of your breathing is the soundtrack to your sex. Bun the playlist fam

    • Justin Credible on said:

      @WilldropPantiesForBeats, Daaayum!

      • WilldropPantiesForBeats on said:

@Justin Credible, oh might I add, a woman like me would get you so far gone that you’d forget to stick on that corny ass playlist.

        • Justin Credible on said:

@WilldropPantiesForBeats, lol you’re confident, that ‘corny ass playlist’ would only be used IF NEEDED, I have no problem providing beats manually

I love “Part Time Lover” by H Town rather than “knockin boots”……the rest of eh, too cliched and trite for me, so not sexy.

  17. Ness on said:

    That list is BIG!

    Though I think is missing:

Make that sound – J Holiday.
I invented Sex – Trey Songz <- This can be quite a risky tune though..

  18. Nice piece of writing you’ve got here. When it comes to me it depends on a lot of things, the man, my mood etc.

Firm (no pun intended) favourites as follows:
Usher Dot Com/ Nice N Slow
Kieth Sweat: How Deep is your love
    Nivea complicated
    Ciara promise
Day 26: Don’t fight the feeling
    Jagged Edge I gotta Be
    Silk Freak Me
    Janet Jackson anytime, any place
Kut Klose get up on it

Clearly I thought about it. I’m gone like Chris Browns mind (you like what I did there don’t you)

  19. Shev on said:

I’m all about a bit of Toni Braxtons Breath Again and Dru Hills Sleeping in my bed. Ooh and Jagged Edge Promise…suki suki now!

@Ade Eclectik, WTH. LOOOL. That was the longest quick two pence I’ve ever seen.

    • Shaunie on said:

@Ade Eclectik, Not all lovemaking tunes, some of the vibes aren’t right but… I gotta get behind Marques Houston Naked, if ever there was a song that was slept upon it is that one.

      • Ade Eclectik on said:

@Shaunie, hmm probably, it’s genrally a quick mix and match thing. i guess ..if it’s a wifey, side chick, quicckie certain tacks may or may not work, naked does it lol however could b nuts as the lady might start thinking about the man singing it rather than you. which would mess up your mood…

  23. Don Kwelu on said:

Some serious tunes up in here, u slept on donnel jones tho g. Nice list u gt here bit too soft for Kwelu but I appreciate. ladies talking about dropping panties for a beat. Jeeze

  24. Nichole on said:

Loved it! You guys rarely fail to deliver. J you dropped in a lil neo soul and that’s what’s up. Marsha hasn’t stopped with the orgasm either. Have you heard ‘With You’ off her latest album. DAYUM!

I’ll also say that I can’t even listen to J.Cole ‘In The Morning’ anymore. Sun rising while you’re moaning? That song is not for single girls!

I’m gonna post my fav ‘in the mood’ song on my tumblr and leave a link here in a bit.

    Nichole.

  25. Is it possible to ever be too slick having the perfect panty dropping mixtape?
All these songs seem like their for “Love making” but what if you want straight slam and mashup some furniture I would assume that something more aggressive would be required?
Perhaps something with a solid baseline, but maybe I’m wrong?

    • Ade Eclectik on said:

@MR D, YEsss! lol most women i think wants to feel the ‘this is it’ moment during sex but in reality…it’s just ‘a beat’ lol, on rare occasions music has no effect and could do the entire opposite . depending on her rap/hip-hop could do the job

  26. Shaunie on said:

Just some quick advice to the men, do not make a playlist that becomes a sing along session for the ladies cause your goose is cooked and your balls blue. #i’mjustsaying

  27. Lol @Ade you went in

This is where JC went wrong, as youths whilst we were experimenting in various locations with women, from parks to … You man was producing slow jam CDs for next man’s misses

P.s. R Kelly is legend in the genre of seductive music

  28. A few additions:
    Maxwell- Fortunate
Day 26 – What It Feels Like
Tre Songz (sorry, had to go there)- Scratchin’ Me Up

  29. Pappzd Magazine on said:

You guys went in, with out a doubt. Wish music was still like this to be honest but one tune you forgot we think, Sisqo-Incomplete or even Dru Hill-Creeping
